Walk us through your professional journey so far.
Educationally, my journey followed a fairly simple road. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration right here in Mexico City at IBERO University, and my Master’s in Marketing at the IE Business School in Madrid. As soon as I graduated I sort of jumped right into a career in finance that gave me the experience to know how to handle and run a business. That’s when I decided to turn my real passion
for art, culture and my country into a business. I wanted to preserve the way of living found in Mexican artisans, founding Arroz con Leche
in 2002. Arroz con Leche’s concept followed the incorporation of artisanal work, hand embroidery and other techniques into children’s garments.
Years later, in 2011, I launched Yakampot
, a brand more focused on womenswear, working and benefiting the same communities as Arroz con Leche (with a twist). Yakampot would move beyond the preservation of Mexican craftsmanship into the evolution of it, working on more contemporary and sophisticated designs. Finally, in 2019, my latest entrepreneurial project came to light, Collectiva Concepción
. If you can see, every company connects to the latter. This time we would continue to produce womenswear but at a luxury level addressed for the international market with the vision to elevate the human spirit, create a sense of well-being and, of course, continue to support at-risk artisan indigenous communities by offering collectible heirlooms made with love in Mexico.
When did the ‘aha’ moment to start your business occur?
September, 2002. A thought came to my mind that change everything: I couldn’t name one Mexican luxury brand that was real, authentic, rich in culture and with artisanal heritage.
What is your main purpose? What drives you to wake up in the morning?
I have always been a family person. Since childhood I was educated to understand that business and social causes are intimately entwined. My purpose is to support primarily women-led micro economies in Mexico by providing fair job opportunities; coming from a personal rooted connection with this.
Tell us about your creative process.
My partner and the designer of the company, Huguette Hubard, is truly the mastermind here. We always work hand in hand searching for the inspiration to create our garments —from colors to silhouettes and embroideries—. As the name says it, we are a collective process. It’s something we treasure and comes from a team effort.

Chavela Vargas. I’ve always admired her tremendous strength and courage to express her soul and her true self.

How are you contributing into making our planet a more livable, sustainable and healthy place?
I believe it all starts with oneself. For me, personally, meditation is a great tool: spending time in and with nature and just being present. The more connected we are and realize we are all one, we start to make better and more conscious choices. We’ll change the way we eat, the way we live and the way we treat ourselves.

How is Mexico contributing to the design and art scene?
Mexico adds so much value in creative spheres with its uniqueness and authenticity. Our country is so rich, culturally and socially, and we project our past, present and future with so much honesty and integrity. We are seeing this in gastronomy, music, movies, Contemporary Art and fashion. Mexico will forever be a contributor and creator, we have so much to give!
